Jessie “Laverne” Townsend, age 74, of Cartwright, Okla. died at Texoma Medical Center, Denison, Texas on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Aug. 5, 1944 in Denison, Texas to Tom Haskins and Jessie Scott Haskins.
She married Roy Dane Townsend in Durant, Okla. on June 19, 1966. She worked for many years at Levi’s/Diaper Jeans as quality control. She was of the Methodist faith.
Her most important enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren, watching wrestling, fishing and Jerry Springer.
She is survived by her husband; Roy Dane Townsend; daughter: Michelle Dollins; son: Dane and Carolyn Townsend; grandchildren: Kendal Ford, Lindsey Dollins, Makenzie Townsend, Hunter Townsend; great-grandson: Ryan Ford; brothers: Randy Haskins and Richard Haskins, sister: Janiece Ratcliff and Ellis; numerous nieces & nephews, other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Tom and Jessie Haskins and her brother, Tommy Haskins.
A family & friends visitation only will be held on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, 6 – 8 p.m. at American Funeral Service, Denison, Texas.
