Peggy Hamilton, a resident of Calera, Okla., and beloved mother, grandmother and, great-grandmother, passed peacefully at her home surrounded by family in Calera on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 at the age of 70. She was the daughter of JD and Betty (Harrington) Weemes. Peggy was born on March 25, 1948 in Bennington, Okla.
Peggy served her country in the United States Air Force. She loved the solitude of fishing, and camping with her family. Peggy cherished the time she spent shopping with her daughters, and granddaughter as well as going to baseball games to watch her grandsons. She considered her family her greatest blessing, especially her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her mother, Betty Weemes of Calera, Okla.; children, Gena Dunfee and companion Paul Simmons of Durant, Okla. and Angie Stephens and her husband Terry of Durant, Okla.; son, Boyd Hamilton and wife Sheryl of Calera, Okla.; grandchildren, Abigail Dunfee of Durant, Okla., Kyle Dunfee of Durant, Okla., Connor Hamilton of Calera, Okla., Cooper Hamilton of Calera, Okla., Chase Hamilton of Calera, Okla., Brandon Stephens and wife Becca of Durant, Okla., and Dana Horton and fiancé Cameron Mason of Durant, Okla.; great-grandchildren, Kolton Horton of Durant, Okla., Kadence Stephens of Durant, Okla., and Rever Stephens of Durant, Okla.; brother, Donnie Weemes and wife Lois of Durant, Okla.; sister, Sherdean Berry and husband Jimmy of Durant, Okla.; numerous nieces and nephews; and also survived by the father of her children, Eugene Thomas of Durant, Okla.
Mrs. Hamilton was preceded in death by her husband, Fredrick Hamilton; father, JD Weemes; sister, Nancy Dodd; and brothers, DJ Weemes and Quinton Lee Weemes.
Family hour will be from 3-4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla. The church service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, Jan. 7 at the Victory Tabernacle Church in Durant, Okla. with Rev. Doyle Pair officiating. Burial will follow at the Jackson Cemetery in Bennington, Okla. with Chester Smith, Donnie Hyde, Kenneth Dodd, Matthew Dunfee, Michael Graham and Paul Simmons serving as pallbearers.
