On a sad note, coach Bo Atterberry is moving on after five successful seasons as the head coach of the Savage Storm.
In other news, SE accoutrements are in the running for national recognition.
The black alternate Southeastern football helmet continues on in the bracket in Helmet Bowl II, a contest put on by HelmetTracker.com to “crown the greatest, coolest, best-designed college football helmet in America,” according to the site.
The competition started with helmets from every football playing school in the NCAA in all three divisions. The Storm came out on top representing the Great American Conference.
Southeastern’s helmet is currently matched against Boise State’s alternate helmet in the final eight in the contest. Both helmets are black with mascots outlined in silver.
The voting in this round is active and will run until Christmas Eve. To support the Storm in this online competition (a.k.a. popularity contest for fun), click HERE to go to the site.
Last year’s winner was the helmet of the Gallaudet Bison, an NCAA Division III athletic program in Washington D.C.
