DURANT – There is always much activity in and around Paul Laird Field on nights when Durant High School is hosting a football game.
One of the many tents put up on site houses friends and parents of the DHS junior class with plenty of T-Shirts on hand to sell.
“We are raising money for the Durant High School juniors and seniors for the prom.” said Ronnie Cubley, whose daughter Alexandria is the president of the junior class.”
We’re going to be here every game and try to make some of the basketball games, as well.”
Cubley had a special deal for those stopping by at the games.
“We’re selling the shirts for $12 or two for $25. That’s Ronnie’s Deal.”
Other parents on hand expressed that a better deal might be made. But all around, those working the booth said the money raised was going for a good cause.
“Not only is it going to support our high school kids, but any money that is left over not used for the prom will be donated to the community,” Cubley said. “We’re going to give it back to the community and the juniors will get to choose the recipients.”
There are two more home football games on tap for 2018: Homecoming will be Friday, Oct. 12 and Senior Night is Friday, Oct. 26.
The junior classes fundraisers will be a raffle at this Friday night’s game.
