Bonnita “Bonnie” Jean Dingess

Bonnita “Bonnie” Jean Dingess of Durant entered her Heavenly Home on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 in Dallas, Texas at the age of 60. She was born on Sept. 9, 1958 to Therrell McElroy Dingess and Margie Florene (Wheeler) Dingess in Charleston, West Virginia.

Bonnie was raised in Valliant, Okla. After graduating from Valliant High School, she moved to Durant to further her education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She held many positions, working at the Toy Factory and then Texas Instruments for some time. The position she was most proud of was being involved in her community.

For many years, she committed herself to helping with Celebrate Recovery at First Baptist Church in Durant where she was a member. Bonnie had a way with people by uniquely loving everyone she came in contact with. If she wasn’t taking care of others, she could be found reading or staying in touch with her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandfather, Rupert Otto Wheeler, who contributed to her raising after her mother’s passing.

Survivors include her son, Chris Dingess of Allen, Texas; special niece whom she loved as a daughter, Kim Podany and husband Michael of Durant, special great-nieces whom she loved as granddaughters, Morgan Podany of Addison, Texas, Brooke Podany and Chanler Podany, both of Durant; brother, Mike Dingess of DeRitter, Louisiana; nephew, Charles Bishop and wife Jennifer; great-nephew, Nathan Bishop; great-niece, Kailee Bishop; sister, Therlyn Doshier and husband Gene of Spencerville, Okla. and nephew, Lester Gene Doshier, Jr. of Florida; nephews, Omar Bibi and significant other Nicky Hales, Ali Bibi and fiancee Sierra Anderson; nieces, Hannah Doshier of Sapulpa, Okla.; Faith and Hope Doshier of Spencerville; special cousin and friend, Marie Goolsby; sister, Jacque Dingess of Idabel, Okla. and nephew Devon Shelby; sister, Janice Guest and nephew, Chase Guest; brother Buddy Coleman; stepmother, Jane Dingess, along with numerous cousins, other extended family members and dear friends in and out of state.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Durant with Larry Dresser officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Jenkins, Sonny Jenkins, Steve Jenkins, Gene Doshier Michael Podany, Tony Goolsby, Omar Bibi, Ali Bibi, Charlie Bishop, and Nathan Bishop.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
