Lois Mae Rose, of Blue, Okla., joined her Savior and loved ones in Heaven on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018 at the age of 92.
Lois was born on March 4, 1926 in Wister, Okla. to William and Docie Bell Melton. She married Allen Rose on Feb. 20, 1946 in Amarillo, Texas. They made their home near Blue for most of their 49 years together until his passing on April 3, 1995.
Mrs. Rose loved her church, Blue Baptist Church where she was a member for 71 years, and where she was honored on Lois Rose Day, Feb. 2, 2014 for her many areas of service, including children’s worker, assistant treasurer, and chief chocolate and lemon pie maker.
Mrs. Rose enjoyed quilting, reading, and taking care of her yard, especially her flowers. But most of all she will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who always did anything she could to help anyone who needed it.
Mrs. Rose is survived by son, Curtis Rose of Vivian, La.; daughters, Janet Taylor and husband Tony of Durant, Okla., and Joy Smith and husband Cecil of Blue, Okla.; grandsons, Clifton Collier and wife Melissa of Vivian, La. and Craig Smith and wife Darla of Blue, Okla.; granddaughters Lisa Rose of Vivian, Louisiana, Stephanie Thurman and husband Tris of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Kimberly Taylor of Bethany, Okla., and Amy Smith of Edmond, Okla.
Great-grandchildren: Michael Rose, Trey Flippo, Meghan Flippo, Winter Collier, Summer Collier, Kyle Dancer, Drew Smith, Daylen Smith, Morgan Thurman, Taryn Thurman, and Luke Thurman.
Great-great-granddaughters Trinity Collier, Kenzleigh Flippo, and Addison Dancer. She is also survived by a sister, Imogene Knipe of Richland Hills, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by her husband Allen Rose, infant son Dennis Ray Rose, son Gary Don Rose, granddaughter Melanie Taylor, parents William and Docie Melton, daughter-in-law Margie Rose, brothers Jimmy Melton and Billy Melton, and sisters Mildred Gipson and Lorene Horton.
A celebration of Mrs. Rose’s life will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2018 at Blue Baptist Church in Blue, Okla. Pastor Dale Ballard will officiate. Burial will be in Old Philadelphia Cemetery with grandsons and greatgrandsons serving as the pallbearers. Family hour will be from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
