Shirley Jean (Snow) Percell was born on March 15, 1936, in Boswell, Okla., to Wayne and Lucille Snow. She was their only daughter with two brothers. She went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2026. She was surrounded by many loved ones in Plano, TX, when she passed at 90 years old.
Shirley was raised in Boswell, Okla., and graduated from Boswell High School in 1954. Shirley married Wayne Percell on January 24, 1956, in Hugo, Okla.. They made their home in Bennington, Okla., where she was Wayne’s helpmate for 38 years. Shirley helped Wayne in both retail business and cattle operations. She has always been a very humble and hardworking woman.
She was an honest lady with a streak of stubbornness. She was one of the strongest women you could ever meet, with the best sense of humor. Some of the things she loved were cows, roosters, soap operas, jewelry, and shoes, not necessarily in that order. She was a big fan of Merle Haggard; she loved Mountain Dew, milkshakes, catfish, and burgers like a true Oklahoma gal.
Shirley was a loving mother to her four children and her three bonus children. She provided them with love and care. She was known for her good cooking, especially her eggless chocolate cake. She has given the recipe to many, and it has become known as the famous Shirley’s Chocolate Cake. Shirley had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly.
Shirley made the best decision to obey her Lord and Savior and be baptized for the salvation of her sins at the Caddo Church of Christ. Her grandson Andrew Percell was honored with the task of baptizing her. She drove to Caddo and attended church as long as she was able.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Lucille Snow; husband, Wayne Percell; brothers: Don and Willard Snow; stepdaughter, Betty Bennett; son Ronnie Percell; son-in-law, Clifford Rhoads; granddaughters: Angela Rhoads, Kimberly and Krystal Edwards, and grandson Jamie Rhoads.
