Sandra Joyce Cordell

Sandra Cordell passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside, leaving behind a legacy of deep devotion to her family, a lifelong passion for animals, and a selflessness that touched everyone around her. Born on November 26, 1945, in Regina, Canada, to Doreen and Allan Moir, Sandra moved to the United States as a child, where her family proudly gained their U.S. citizenship. She grew up in Ukiah, California, where she spent her formative years before eloping with Bud Cordell to marry in Reno, Nevada.

Sandra and Bud eventually settled in Colbert, Oklahoma, where they built a life together. Sandra’s love for animals was matched only by her intense devotion to her family, and together she and Bud raised their children.

Following the passing of her husband, Bud, a health condition slowed Sandra down from her hard-working days of feeding cows and horses. She moved into the home of her son, Byron Cordell, and his wife, Vanessa, along with four of her grandchildren. Affectionately known to all as “Nana,” she quickly became a fixture and a beloved central figure in the home. She thrived on the constant hum of activity created by Byron, Vanessa, the kids, their dogs and their endless stream of friends. The grandchildren folded Nana effortlessly into their daily routines—and she cherished every single moment of it. She was their ultimate ally; no matter what antics took place, everyone knew Nana would never tattle. Her presence and unwavering loyalty brought an unforgettable light to the household.
