LaWanda Pearl (Love) Luton, a devoted mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, and great-great grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Silo, at the age of 93 on Friday, June 5, 2026. She was born on February 20, 1933, in Holtville, California to Felix and Edna (Hitchcock) Love.
LaWanda attended school at Cobb in Bryan County. On March 25, 1949, she married the love of her life, Clifton Thomas Luton, in Sherman, Texas. Together LaWanda and Clifton built a life centered on love, faith, and family. LaWanda was a dedicated and supportive wife who lovingly raised her three children; Ronnie, Sharon and Linda. She had a special gift for caring for others and found great joy in helping raise and nurture not only her own children but also several children of family and friends. Her home and heart were always open.
She was an active member of her community; loved following the Silo Rebel teams and an active member of the Silo Community Center. She was a member of the Silo Baptist Church, where she formed many special friendships, sang in the choir, and took many trips with her church friends.
LaWanda was the heart of her family, a guiding light, whose strength and determination shaped generations. She was known for her fierce love, kind spirit, and her ability to bring people together. She was not a quiet leader, but a strong and outspoken one who was never afraid to speak her mind. Through her prayers, her wisdom, and her steady presence, she made everyone feel valued, supported and deeply loved.
LaWanda was preceded in death by; her loving husband of 64 years, Clifton Luton; her daughter, Linda Luton Cayce; daughter in-law, Penni Luton; parents, Felix and Edna Love; 2 sisters and 1 brother.
LaWanda is survived by her son; Ronnie Luton; Daughter; Sharon Buffalo and husband Ricky; grandchildren: Dusty Luton and wife Michelle; Jennifer Wagoner and husband Brandon; Errin Luton and wife Erin Michelle; Thomas Buffalo and wife Tiffany; Amber Cayce; Rachael Reyna and husband Joey. Great Grandchildren: Ty Wagoner; Bailey Luton and wife Chelsea; Amy Lynch and husband Hunter; Clay Luton and wife Emma; Hunter Luton and wife Halie; Dakota Buffalo; Paige Reynolds and husband James; Joseph Luton; James Luton; Brooklyn Buffalo; Josiah Reyna; Noah Reyna; Garrett Luton. Great-Great grandchildren: Aiden Allen; Oakley Luton; Knox Luton; Wilder Luton; Malachi Reynolds.
Funeral services to celebrate LaWanda’s life will be on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 2 p.m. at the Silo Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Hamilton and Steven Luton officiating. She will be laid to rest at Restland Cemetery in Silo with Dusty Luton, Thomas Buffalo, Brandon Wagoner, Ty Wagoner, Errin Luton, Clay Luton, James Reynolds, Dakota Buffalo, and Hunter Luton serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, June 12, from 6-8 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home.
