Tonya Renee Young

Tonya Renee Young, 52, passed away on June 5, 2026, in Mead, Oklahoma.

Tonya was born on November 7, 1973, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was raised in Oklahoma and most recently returned to Bryan County in April 2026 from Denver, Colorado.

Tonya attended Durant High School and later continued her education at Metro State University. She dedicated her career to behavioral health care, where she touched countless lives through her compassion, kindness, and unwavering commitment to helping others.

Tonya found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved cooking for family and friends, playing pool, creating arts and crafts, gardening, hiking, and capturing special moments through photography. She had a generous heart, a vibrant spirit, and a deep love for her family, friends, and beloved pets. She loved fiercely and cared deeply for those closest to her. At the same time, she was known for her feisty personality, quick wit, and determination. Tonya never hesitated to speak her mind, stand up for those she loved, or bring laughter to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Hellen Wheat; Kenneth and Ruby Young; and her aunts and uncles, Wally Wheat, Samuel Wheat, and Kathy Wheat.

Those left to cherish her memory include her spouse, Justin McGarvey of Denver, Colorado; her parents, Donna and Leonard Young of Mead, Oklahoma; her mother-in-law, Marci McGarvey and her partner, Michael, of Denver, Colorado; her sons, Dakotah Young and spouse Nynnett of Mead, Oklahoma, Austin Hall of Sherman, Texas, and Joshua Deal of Denver, Colorado; her siblings, Melissa Phillips and spouse Rickey of Pocahontas, Arkansas, and Wre Smith and spouse Beth of Durant, Oklahoma.

Tonya also leaves behind dear friends, Buddy and Ronda Deal of Madill, Oklahoma; her beloved fur babies, Bandit, Fury, and Pandora; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with her.

Tonya’s warmth, laughter, strength, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her legacy of compassion, resilience, humor, and fierce devotion to her family and friends will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
