Dorothy Nell (McWilliams) Abshier went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Quail Ridge Living Center in Colcord, Oklahoma. Born September 8, 1935, in Woodville, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Arch and Alice (McCuan) McWilliams.
On August 26, 1960, Dorothy Married Darrel Abshier in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and author who worked alongside her husband Darrel in his construction business and dairy farm during their 54-year marriage. She loved the Lord and found great joy in writing about his goodness and encouraging others in their faith.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrel; brothers: Richard, Wendyl, Archie, and Willis; her son-in-law, Linn Carlson.
She is survived by her sister, Judy; her daughters, Gayla Carlson, Janna Haney and husband Clif, Treva Watkins and husband Greg; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Ascend Church, located at 1025A South Maxwell Street in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
