Linda Jewel (Teel) Self

Linda Jewel (Teel) Self of Caddo, Oklahoma, passed away in her home on Caddo Hills Road on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at the age of 82. She was born on Monday, February 8, 1943 in Blue, Oklahoma, to Henry Ford and Vida Mae (Owens) Teel.

Linda attended Blue School. She loved school, often talking about learning to read at an early age. Linda was a fantastic basketball player for the Blue Warriors.

She married Alvin Glen Self, the love of her life on March 5, 1960. They had one son, Kevin Glen Self. They were members of the First Baptist Church in Caddo, Oklahoma. She attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education followed by a master’s degree as a reading specialist. She taught school for many years in Oklahoma including, Bentley, Milburn and Caddo. Teaching was her greatest joy.

She enjoyed her home, mowing her yard and growing flowers. She was a snappy dresser and loved fashion. In her younger days, she often went to the drag races with Glen and Kevin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Flord and Vida Mae (Owens) Teel; sister, Jean Compton; brother, Ford Teel, Jr.; son, Kevin Glen Self and her husband, Alvin Glen Self.

Survivors include her grandson, Hunter Glen Self and wife Kylie (Manning) Self; daughter-in-law, Anita (Lorance) Self and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws as well as other extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Oklahoma, with Bro. Jeff Self and Bro. Anthony Williams Officiating. Hunter Self, Mason Scarborough, Larry Manning, Troy Williamson, Faron Williamson and Chad O’Hern will serve as pallbearers.
