Lou Ann Hooser, 81, passed from this life on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at her home. Lou Ann was born on Tuesday, May 2, 1944 in Meadow, Texas to Arthur William Blackerby and Loleat (Browne) Blackerby.
Lou Ann was raised and graduated high school in Hobbs, New Mexico. She married Carl Hooser on August 5, 1967 in Hobbs at her sister Nina’s home. Lou Ann and Carl moved several times with his work in the car industry. They lived in Texas, North Carolina, South Florida, Colorado, New Jersey, and McAlester, Okla. for a number of years and then to Durant in 2000. Lou Ann retired as an elementary teacher and focused on working with all kinds of crafts. She also enjoyed painting, ceramics and being a homemaker.
Lou Ann was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers ,Jerry Blackerby and Gary Blackerby who died on August 28, 2025.
She is survived by her loving husband, Carl of Durant; sister, Nina Livingston of Durant; a nephew, Bruce Livingston and his wife Karen of Indian Land, South Carolina; and many friends.
The family chose cremation and there are no services planned at this time.
