Kathie Stone

Kathie Stone, 71, of Durant, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her most.

Kathie lived most of her life in Durant and built a legacy of unconditional love, resilience, example, and service that will not be forgotten. Known for her giving heart, quiet strength, and always a good meal, Kathie had a way of making everyone always feel loved and accepted. Whether you needed a good haircut, a warm meal, or a shoulder to lean on, she was there when it mattered.

For more than 51 years, Kathie worked as a hairdresser in Durant, becoming part of countless customers and friends’ lives. At the age of 50, she fearlessly went back to school, earned her BSN in nursing, and began a second career in caring for others. She continued to do hair because of the relationships she had acquired over the years.

She loved to travel and see new things and places. She was known for her deep devotion to friends, her family, and faith.

Kathie lived her life with a deep and abiding faith in Jesus. She gave everything; her hopes, her fears, and her cares to God, trusting fully in His plan and resting in His peace.

Kathie is survived by her husband, Phillip Stone of Durant; daughters, Barbara McReynolds and husband Wesley, Lucy Lovett and husband Brandon; her sons, Justin Cassidy and Max Cassidy and wife Adreanna. She was “Granma” to 13 grandchildren: Brandon, Garrett, Harley, Memphis, JC, Savannah, Rylee, Seth, Carly, Colton, Caiden, Mercy, and Roger, and four great-grandchildren: Brylynn, Lux, Bryce, and Kylee.

She is also survived by her siblings Karl Brown, Kurt Brown, and Konnie Brown; bonus mother, Doris Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family whom she loved deeply.

Kathie loved deeply, worked hard, and gave generously. She lived a life full of purpose, faith, and people.

A celebration of Kathie’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Kemp Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Speers officiating.

Arrangements under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service.
