Kathy Ann Ashley

Katherine “Kathy” Ann Ashley, of Durant, passed away on January 3, 2025, at the age of 67. She was born on September 22, 1957, in Durant, Oklahoma, to Bill and Helen (Murray) Braudrick. On August 27, 1993, Kathy married Michael Ashley in McKinney, Texas.

Her professional life was marked by her dedication and service to her community. She worked as the assistant editor for the Bryan County Star, where she was immersed in the community’s stories. Kathy’s love for cooking led her to her role as a cook at the local bowling alley. In her time off from work, she enjoyed coaching softball. Beyond her work and community involvement, Kathy had other interests that brought her happiness. She enjoyed sewing and creating beautiful crafts in her spare time. Kathy also had a playful spirit which was evident in her enjoyment of video games. In her younger years, Kathy loved cooking, preparing meals for family and friends.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Michael Ashley of Durant; her son, Burney Anoatubby and his wife, Courtney Williams, of Durant; and her sister, Mechelle Howard and her husband, Blake, also of Durant. Her legacy continues with her grandchildren: Leslie Anoatubby, Caitlyn and Walker Williams, as well as her great-grandchildren, Karson and Bayleigh Norris, and Kendrix Rodriguez. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Helen Braudrick; her son, Larry Anoatubby; and her siblings, Tom, Donna, Rickey, and Karen Braudrick.

A private memorial service is being held at a later date.
