Roger Thompson

Roger Dale Thompson, of Durant, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, in Denison, Texas, at the age of 70. He was born on July 4, 1954, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Raymond “Buck” Millard and Mattie Lou (North) Thompson.

On December 3, 1973, Roger married Elizabeth Ann Harris in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Together, they raised four rowdy boys and made a beautiful life for themselves. They built a thriving donut business, Dandy Donuts, that remains the highlight of Friday nights in Durant. Beyond his business accomplishments, Roger was an avid OU Sooners fan and was always happy sporting their colors. He loved the times he was able to attend a home game and cheer them on. He loved even more having the family Saturday get-togethers, eating dinner and watching the game with Ann, the kids and their families. His love for the outdoors was unmistakable, with hunting and fishing being among his favorite pastimes where he made amazing memories with his sons.

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Ann Thompson; his sons: Logan Thompson and wife Kristi, James Thompson and wife Elizabeth, and Dennis Thompson and wife Amanda. His legacy lives on with his grandchildren, Taylor Thompson, Breanna Thompson, Zachary Thompson, Madeline Thompson, J.D. Thompson, and Isaac Thompson. Roger is also survived by his siblings: Raymond Thompson and wife Janice, Sharon O’Connell and husband Barry, Sheila Barnhill, Garland Lee White, Steven Clay White, Preston White, along with his nieces and nephews Jeremy White, Amber Barnhill, Joe Thompson, Cathy Gray and husband Russell, Johnnie Thompson, Amanda Ashmore, Jesse Thompson, Michael Thompson, Courtney Thompson and Brian Thompson.
