DURANT – The 104th Candlelighting Concert will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. in historic Montgomery Auditorium on the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

This year’s theme is “Follow the Star” and will feature a wide variety of musical styles, from sacred classics such as The Heavens Are Telling from Haydn’s masterpiece The Creation to beloved carols such as We Three Kings, as well as more recent selections, such as a modern arrangement of the ancient “Ave Maris Stella” poem.

“There are so many different styles of music that celebrate the Christmas Star, or even just the winter night sky,” said Dr. Abby Musgrove, Director of Choral Activities at Southeastern. “It gives us the opportunity to present a concert that has something for everyone.”

The Southeastern Choirs will be joined this year by various faculty and student instrumentalists as well as the Durant Middle School Chorus, which will perform a few holiday selections of their own.

The concert will last approximately one hour and is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Abby Musgrove at amusgrove@se.edu.
