Irene Jeanette Mowles passed away on November 16, 2024. She was born on September 26, 1950, in Talihina, Okla., to Suther Bruner and Cora (Red) Lowe.
In life, Irene always found a home anywhere her family was. She worked and retired from the VA as a certified radiology technician. Irene was proud to be a full-blood Muscogee Creek woman. She was a member of the Muscogee Creek Nation OIC, Muscogee Creek Nation cancer survivors, and the Muscogee Creek Nation Historical Preservation Committee. Her greatest joy was watching her grandbabies play sports, being silly as often as possible, and attending Victory Life Church.
She is preceded in death by her son Gregory Suther Mowles her grandson Terrance O’Banyon Mowles and her parents Cora Mae Lowe and Suther Bruner.
Left to cherish her memories and carry on her legacy are her children: Monica Mowels-Terrell of Durant, Denise Stewart and husband Sonny of Fort Townson, Jerry Mowels and wife Leslie of Durant, and Camille Wood and husband Nico of Enid; grandchildren: Suther Mowles and wife Cammi of Calera, Sonny Stewart Jr. of Fort Townson, Dillon Stewart and wife Kayla of Gymon, Ginavee Freeman and husband Bronson of Bennington, Savannah Terrel of Durant, Kyla Troy and Kaiden Troy both of Enid, Ethan Mowles and Packard Mowles both of Durant; great-grandchildren: Kirit Stewart, Kylley Freeman, Mahaya Mowles and Judah Mowles, Axton Freemon, Future Kenadi, Faith Stewart, and Nanna’s Violet Rae. Her sisters are Lucinda Barnett of Okmulgee and Dora Neconish of Holdenville. He also leaves behind her special friends Jerry Mowles Sr of Durant, Whitney Stone, and husband Justin, their children Blaise and Sophie of Midwest City, and Carrie Ramey of Durant.
Irene truly leaves behind a rich legacy of Love in each person’s life who knew her.
A memorial service in her honor will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2024, at Brown’s Funeral Chapel in Durant.
