DURANT – Shamrock Bank NA was originally charted in 1924 in Coalgate, Oklahoma under the First National Bank of Coalgate. Former chairman and CEO of Shamrock Bancshares, Carolyn Watson had a vision of improving the quality of life in rural Oklahoma communities. Big banks were developing their products to accommodate big city lifestyles, while rural communities were underserved. Additional bank charters in other rural communities were acquired and merged into one bank, Shamrock Bank NA. The name may have changed in the last century, but the mission has remained the same – to provide exceptional banking services to local communities.
“Our bank has prevailed through a variety of economic conditions, government administrations, pandemics, and the evolving industry of banking,” Guy Sims, CEO and current chairman of Shamrock Bank said. “Our dedicated employee-owners and loyalty to our communities are the reasons we are celebrating a century of success. I hope they are all as proud to be part of the legacy as I am.”
Shamrock Bank is an employee-owned bank with locations in Coalgate, Caddo, Durant, Clayton, Apache, Mountain View, Altus, Oklahoma City, and a loan production office in McKinney, Texas. They are a full-service bank, offering convenient services like mobile banking and on-line account opening, but it’s the in-person banking they take the most pride in.
“People – they are the ones who differentiate us from other banks,” said Jason Manous, Durant Community Banking President. “Our bank employees know our customers personally. Our customers and local business owners continue to support us by keeping their money local, allowing us to make a difference in each of our communities. Because of this, we have the ability to reinvest back into the community with sponsorships, scholarships, donations, and volunteerism.”
At the end of July, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Bank’s regulator, delivered a certificate to Shamrock Bank, recognizing them for one hundred years of service. Shamrock Bank is grateful for their strong relationship with the agency and appreciates their support of community banking.
