Marjorie Pugh

Marjorie Nell (Gregg) Pugh passed from her earthly life into her Heavenly home on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in Durant, Okla. She was born on September 5, 1928, to George Jacob and Bessie Louise (Lovelady) Gregg in Weches, Houston County, Texas.

Marjorie attended Glover School in the area through 12th grade, graduating as Valedictorian of her class. She later attended business school in Rusk, Texas and worked there as a secretary for the Texas State Department of Public Welfare until 1952. In 1952, Marjorie moved to Dallas, Texas where she worked as a secretary for the Kendall Company.

Marjorie married the love of her life, Dale Myers Pugh, on April 25, 1959. She retired from work in 1966, and their daughter, Delann, was born in March. Marjorie was a mother and housewife until 1971. In September of that year, she returned to work as a secretary for the H.B. Hughes Co., a manufacturing representative for Adidas shoes as well as a number of other lines of athletic wear. She worked for H.B. Hughes Co. for 19 years before retiring. She later returned to work for the Reebok shoe company distributor in Allen, Texas. Marjorie and Dale moved to Oklahoma where they raised Paint and Quarter Horses.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Dale Pugh, her parents George and Bessie Gregg, and her mother-in-law Cordella Young. She is survived by her daughter Delann Pugh – in her words, “the most wonderful daughter that anyone could ever have.”

A special thank you to Victory Home Health and Hospice, especially Lynsi Bourne and Tina Traer, for the love and compassion that you demonstrated as you served my mom over the past three years. Thank you also to Jennifer Huffines and Victoria Tate for taking such good care of her. Knowing that mom was in good hands was a great comfort to me during the time that work and other responsibilities took me away from her. I appreciate all of you more than you will ever know.

The family will receive visitors at her Family Hour from 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
