Ruth Brewer

Ruth Brewer, of Boswell, Okla., passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024, in Dallas, Texas at the age of 78. Ruth’s journey began in Hugo, Okla., where she was born to parents J.T. and Helen Marie (Stephens) Vansickle on November 28, 1945. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, and her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her loved ones.

After completing her education, Ruth embarked on a fulfilling career as an Executive Secretary for the Coca-Cola Company. Her professionalism, efficiency, and warm demeanor made her a beloved figure among her colleagues. Ruth’s dedication to her work was matched only by her commitment to her family and the community she served.

Ruth’s personal life was rich with love and happiness. She married the love of her life, Stan Brewer, and together they built a beautiful family. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, and they were looking forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this coming April.

Beyond her family and work, Ruth had a passion for quilting, a craft through which she expressed her creativity and love for beauty. In her early years, Ruth enjoyed bowling with family and friends. She also found pleasure in reading a good book, as well as spending time at the casino.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Stan Brewer, of the home; her son, Brian Brewer, and his wife, Amy, of Houston, Texas; her treasured grandchildren, Madison and Jacob Brewer, both of Houston, Texas; her caring brothers, Stephen Vansickle and Don Vansickle, both of Boswell, Oklahoma; her loving sisters, Norma Lombino of Boswell, Oklahoma, and Traci Johnson of Ft Worth, Texas. Ruth’s memory will also be cherished by her numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members, as well as a host of friends who were blessed to know her.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Helen Marie Vansickle; her son, Archie Brewer; her brothers, Harold Vansickle and Roger Vansickle; and her sister, Janie Stewart. They have now welcomed her with open arms in a joyful reunion.

The family will receive friends at her Family Hour on Monday, February 5, 2024 from 6-7 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor Ruth’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Victory Life Church Boswell with Pastor Micah Moore officiating. Ruth will be laid to rest in Jackson Cemetery following her funeral service.

Those serving as pallbearers are Brett Wallace, Randy Sample, Brett Anderson, Dusty Belvin, Gary Keeling, and Josh Redwine.
