ATOKA COUNTY – A single-vehicle accident on Monday morning resulted in six young people being injured.
A 17-year-old female (no names were released) from Lane, Okla., was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe on Carr Penn Road at about 10:15 a.m. approximately four miles west of Atoka, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. She was traveling northbound and lost control of the vehicle, departed the roadway to the left, struck a cement culvert, then struck a tree and rolled 3/4 times, coming to a rest on the passenger side.
There were six people in the vehicle. The driver was transported by POV to Atoka Memorial with internal trunk injuries, then treated and released. A 15-year-old female passenger from Atoka was not injured.
A 16-year-old male, a 15-year-old male and a 10-year-old male were each transported by POV to Atoka Memorial, each with a head injury, and all were treated and released.
A 13-year-old female passenger was transported by AirEvac to Children’s Medical Center Dallas with head and trunk internal injuries and admitted in stable condition.
The cause of the accident was operating at a speed too fast for the road conditions, according to the report.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol was assisted in the investigation by the Atoka County Sheriff’s Department, Atoka County EMS and Atoka County Fire Department.
