Bill Byerly of Durant, Okla., passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Texoma Medical Center at the age of 70. He was born on September 6, 1952 in Muskogee, Okla., to Berlin and Mary Frances (Thornton) Byerly. He married the love of his life, Anita Bowen, on December 31, 1980 in Rock Island, Ill.
Billy honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war. He later became a handyman and was known to be able to fix anything. He loved working with his hands.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anita Byerly of Durant, Okla.; daughters, Jessica Byerly of Durant, Okla., Michelle Miller of Del City, Okla., and Tammy Franks of Florida; his son, Bruce Byerly of Washburn, Mo.; his sister, JoAnn Stanley of Noble, Okla., as well as his niece LeeAnn Stanley of Durant, Okla., and his nephew Wayne Stanley of Calera, Okla. His legacy lives on with his five grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his mother, Mary Frances Thornton; his father, Berlin Byerly; and his brother-in-law, Gerald Stanley.
Per his wishes no services are planned at this time.
Arrangements are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 N. Fifth Ave. in Durant, Okla.
