Bonnie Marie (Andrews) Mize was born Saturday, February 9, 1929 in Bennington, Okla., to Samuel Alexander Andrews and Ella Mae (Cross) Andrews. Bonnie was reunited with her husband, James (Buddy) Mize, on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from her home in Bennington at the age of 94.
Bonnie grew up in Bennington and attended Smith-Lee and Bennington schools. She married James Calvin (Buddy) Mize on September 1, 1951 in Durant, Okla. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2006. Together, they lived in Irving, Texas where she worked as a bookkeeper at a furniture company. They would always come home to Bennington on weekends and enjoy the peace of country life. Bonnie would later be employed at Texas Instruments in Sherman for four years. She returned to college earning her teaching certificate and taught for a few years until her retirement. They moved to Sherman in 1968 and in 1972, moved to Bennington where she spent her last years.
Bonnie enjoyed crafts, oil painting artwork, sewing and making quilts, and making homemade dolls with clothes. She had a gift of making her own clothes as well as her family’s. Bonnie was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed going to church, singing, and listening to gospel songs.
Bonnie was also preceded in death by her parents; sons-in-law, Bobby Weakly and Fred Reynolds; three brothers Steve, Clyde, and Floyd Andrews; two sisters Virgene Andrews and Helen Lucille Johnson; sisters-in-law Mona Bea Andrews and Iva Lee Andrews; and brothers-in-law Don Johnson, James Robinson, Bill Smith, and Harley Carroll; In-laws Anna John Dyer and husband Gerald, Imogene and CJ Raney, Lonita Brackett, Roma Lee Barpar, Connie Barpar, Gladys and William Mize, Don and Kathy Mize, Billy Joe Mize, Cleburne and Bernice Mize, and Welborn Mize.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail Weakly of Bennington, Okla. and Elizabeth Reynolds of Denison, Texas; a brother, John Andrews of Bennington, Okla.; sisters, Mary Robinson of Boswell, Okla., Peggy Smith of Bennington, Okla., Betty Joe Carroll of San Antonio, Texas, and Judy Conditt and her husband, Bennett of Bennington, Okla.; two sisters-in-law, Jennie Andrews and Janis Andrews both of Bennington, Okla.; grandkids: Tina Gail Pollock, James Robert Weakly, and Torrie Elizabeth Reynolds and her husband, Justin K. Pruitt; great-grandkids Chelsea Rhea Conway and her husband Justin, Blake Allen and his wife Mindy, Logan Elliott, and Remi Elizabeth Pruitt; great-great grandkids Luke, Jack, Trevyn, Gavin, Rory, Arianna, and Grayson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and close friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel in Durant with Mr. Don Fentem officiating. Interment services will follow at Jackson Cemetery southeast of Bennington, with Mark Andrews, Clay Andrews, Phillip Conditt, Chase Andrews, John Paul Andrews, Chad Andrews, and Rodney Andrews serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 16th, 2023 at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant.
