Linda was born in Dallas on March 14, 1951. She passed from this life on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
She grew up in Irving, Texas, and raised her family there before moving to Denison, Texas, in 1999 and finally to Mead, Okla. in 2019. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Girl Scout, friend and most of all a Child of God.
Linda loved singing, books, coffee, camping, mornings, porches and pets. She shared her passions with her grandchildren each summer for more than 10 years at Camp-Run-Amok. They camped in her backyard, they sang camp songs, and they learned about Jesus.
From a young age, she learned to sew from her seamstress grandmother. It was a lifelong hobby. She sewed easter dresses, Halloween costumes, prom dresses, wedding dresses and even a wedding Kilt.
She strove to be more like Christ every day. She lived by her motto “don’t believe my word, look it up for yourself,” especially when it came to studying the Word of God. She studied the bible and grew closer to God every day. She spread kindness, grace and love everywhere she went, to everyone she met. She never stopped studying and teaching the Bible.
Linda grew up singing. She loved singing. She would wake up at 5 am singing and still be singing as she went to bed. She sang with her sister Kay and her brother Chuck, the group was called The Ross Sisters. She sang with her Irving Bible Church friends in a group called the Grace Notes. She sang in the church choir, in the grocery store and in elevators. She even sang with over 100,000 girl scouts at the world’s largest Girl Scout sing along on the Washington Mall.
Her greatest wish was that everyone she loved would come to know Jesus the way she did.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Bea Ross; her husbands: Smitty Barrett, Jessie Files and O.B. Berry.
She is survived by her father, Charlie Ross; her sisters, Hope Samworth and Kay Ross; her brother, Chuck Ross; her children: Alicia Surratt, Angela Patterson, Andrea and Jon Bonds, Donna and Steven McClain, Cathy Cook, Mark Files, Chase and Isela Berry, Jobi and Dale Bryant; 23 grandchildren and 14 ½ great grandchildren.
A memorial service in her honor is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Silo Baptist Church.
Arrangements under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Home.
