DURANT – One of Durant’s newest businesses is open with clothes and more for children.
Ellie’s Closet opened its doors to the public this summer after owner Brittany Williams and her family grew this past year.
And the this new venture is named for her new daughter.
“Ellie’s six months old,” Williams said. “She was a big surprise to our family. We had renovated our home in 2020 and turned our extra room into an office. So, when Miss Ellie came along, she didn’t have a closet, and we decided to give her the biggest one ever.”
Williams said the store takes in clothes that kids have outgrown and gives store credit to size them up.
“I have ‘Once Loved’ which is our used section, and we have new boutique items as well. We also carry toys and more.
“We’ve been open just about a month now, so we’re pretty new to the area. But we’re here, ready to rock and roll right into the Back to School time.”
Ellie’s Closet currently has clothes for preemies up to 12 years old. They stock T-shirts, diaper covers, earrings, bows, backpacks and more.
Williams said she has lived in Bryan County for about a decade.
“Originally, I’m from McKinney, but my husband moved me out here about 10 years ago. We live in Bennington, and we come down to Durant to support our local businesses everyday.”
Ellie’s Closet is located in Downtown Durant at 312 W. Main St. and is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
