Wanda Lavonne (Holten) Lyday passed from this life in the early hours on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021, at the age of 81. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on Aug. 11, 1940 to Ralph Holten and Helen (Weaver) Holten. Wanda married the love of her life, Darrell Lyday on June 3, 1967, in Oklahoma City, Okla. They were married for 52 years, before his passing on Jan. 8, 2020.
Wanda was a seamstress most of her life, but her true passion was being outside. When she was outdoors, she enjoyed gardening, bird watching and loving on the newborn piglets, chicks, and bunnies. She also had a passion for painting and drawing in her spare time. Wanda will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Left behind to cherish Wanda’s memory are her son, William Lyday and wife Lisa Menchaca of Durant, Oklahoma and her daughter, Tabitha Holden of Oklahoma City, Okla.; granddaughters include: Lanesa Hinds and husband Buddy of Taneyville, Mo., Angela Pena and husband Rupert of Junction, Texas, Samantha Cobb and husband Brian of Durant, Okla., Cara Snapp and husband James of Wright City, Okla., Cheyanne Owens and fiance Zach Pratt of Coleman, Okla. and Geneva Guilbeau and husband Winston of Durant, Okla.; grandsons: Harold Menchaca II of Durant, Okla., Butch Menchaca and wife Kaci of Blue, Okla., Austin Lyday and wife Makayla of Durant, Okla.; great-grandchildren: Liam, Eli, Trustin, Rayce, Raven, JJ, Brentley, Likeona, Ellie, Lillian, Chloe, Rosalie, Riley, Kade, Blake, Harlow, Guinevere, Logan, Blakelynn, Sawyer, Archer, Kemper, and Gunner, and six great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Margie Lyday of Durant, Okla., and son-in-law and lifelong family friend, Jerry Owens of Coleman, Okla.
Preceding Wanda in death are her parents, Ralph and Helen Holten and her husband, Darrell.
Family hour will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo, Okla. with Bro. Anthony Williams officiating, interment will follow. Her pallbearers will be Harold Ray Menchaca II, Butch Andrew Menchaca, Jerry Baugus, Charles Willis, Ted Moore, Johnny Lambert, and Bill Turner, the honorary pallbearers will be Brian Cobb, Buddy Hides, Charles Willis, Austin Lyday, Winston Guilbeau, Zach Prtt, and James Snapp.
Services are under the direction of Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.
