Marie Lynnette Sechler was born on Sept 4, 1942 in Knoxville, Tenn. to Virginia Elenora Perkins and Henry Vewell Boruff. Lynn as everyone called her passed from this life to her eternal home on September 6, 2021 peacefully in her sleep here in Durant, Okla.
Lynn had two sisters: Bonita Arlene Gibbons from Las Vegas, Nev., and Cuba Boruff Horne from Royal Oak, Mich. Her children were Tommy Edward Sechler from Bradenton, Fla. and Theresa Michele Brooks from Frisco, Texas. Her grandchildren included Ian, Michael, Hunter and Walker.
Lynn lived in Tennessee, Georgia, Michigan and Florida. She loved Florida the best. Lynn served in the army as a nurse, was a secretary, worked for Northern Telecom, and loved to work in the veterans clubs. Lynn loved people, she had an outgoing personality, was beautiful, loved her veterans, and loved her family.
Lynn was married to Thomas William Sechler. They met in the Army based in Ft. Benning, Ga. and were married in 1962. They were married for nine years then parted ways, but she never stopped loving him. Lynn never remarried.
Lynn loved to read, travel, cook, host parties, shop the Home Shopping Network, followed NASCAR, crime shows, mysteries and Elvis. In the last few years of her life it was all about Jesus. Lynn spent all her time reading and sharing God’s word. Lynn moved to Texas/Oklahoma the last few months of her life to be near family. Lynn lived every day as her last. She was humble, fragile, and was at peace with her place in life and was ready to go to be with Jesus.
Memorial Services will be at Brown’s Funeral Services in Durant, Okla. on Sept. 18, 2021. Her final place of resting will be at the DFW National Cemetery on Sept. 23, 2021 at 11 a.m..
