Edward A. Palmer, a resident of Durant, Okla., a proud member of the Chickasaw/Choctaw Nation, and veteran of the United States Army, passed from this earthly life on July 31, 2021, at the age of 70. He was the son of Edward Palmer and Ramona (Hattensty) Palmer born in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Feb. 6, 1951. Edward married Eleanor in Bennington, Okla. on Feb. 19, 2005.
Edward retired from the United States Army as a staff sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division after 21 years of service. He was a talented singer and served as the president of the Bryan County singing Convention. Edward shared his voice by visiting different churches and singing. He loved his large family and always cherished any time they spent together.
Mr. Palmer is survived by his wife Eleanor of the home: stepchildren, Nanette Wylie and husband Wayne of Durant, Okla., and Micah Louis of Calera, Okla.: children, Edward A. Palmer Jr. and wife Elaine, Rebecca A. Palmer and Jessica M. Palmer all of San Francisco, Christopher E. Palmer of Bellevue, Wash., and Melissa C. Palmer of Oregon City, Ore.: siblings, Carolyn Cooper, Steve Bond, and Lisa Spikes all of Ardmore, Okla., Starr Linch and husband Mark of Hulbert, Okla. and Melvin Palmer of Red Oak, Okla.: eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; mother, Ramona Williams of Ardmore, Okla.: and by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his father; brothers, Wilburn, and Bobby Palmer and stepson, Jeremy Louis.
Family hour will be from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2021, at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Chapel in Durant, Okla.
His funeral service will start at 2 p.m. in the Chapel with Roger Scott and Mike Scott officiating. Edwards final earthly resting place will be the McAlister Cemetery in Overbrook, Okla. with his cherished family as his pallbearers. The honorary pallbearers will be Gary Don Scott, Joe Coley, members of the Bryan County Singing Convention, Bobby Ludlow, and Steve Gardner.
