Jimmy Lee Berry of Durant, Okla. passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021, peacefully in his sleep at his daughter’s home at the early age of 67. He was surrounded by his loving family. Jimmy was born in Alice, Texas on Jan. 16, 1954 to Bill and Kathlene Berry.
Jimmy was the oldest of nine children. Jimmy grew up finding his life’s calling as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. By trade he was a service attendant/mechanic for 25 years until sickness made his body painful and weak.
Meeting his wife Sherdean as a teenager, they soon began a loving marriage which spanned 52 years of utter and complete devotion. Together they raised two daughters, Lisa Wyatt of Wilson, Okla. and Dena Sage of Durant, Okla. He raised his girls with dutiful vigilance, compassionate understanding, and unwavering love and support. He resided 52 years in Durant, Okla.
Jimmy lived a simple life. His hobbies consisted of fishing, playing poker, online shopping, and playing with his grandchildren. Jimmy’s greatest joy in life was his four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Sherdean Berry of the home; daughter, Lisa Wyatt and husband Matt of Wilson, Okla.; daughter, Dena Sage and husband Donnie of Durant, Okla.; brothers: Robbie Berry of Sparks, Okla., Roger Berry of Sparks, Okla., Willie Berry and wife Cindy of Chandler, Okla., Johnny Berry and wife Sheila of Sparks, Okla.; sisters: Sandra Berry and husband Greg of Wellston, Okla., Wendy Berry and husband Robert of Derby, Kan.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Bill Berry; mother, Kathlene Berry; brother, Danny Berry and siste,r Barbra Gilliam.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday July 14, 2021 at the Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel in Durant, Okla. with Greg Berry officiating and serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Wyatt, Clay Riddle, Brandon Jurder, Justin Jurder, Donnie Sage and David Newell. Burial followed at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Okla.
