James was born to Jacob and Lucy Miller on December 24, 1940, in Banty, Okla. He graduated from Bennington High School and attended Southeastern State College. James enjoyed telling the story of how he met the love of his life, Joan Robinson, at a skating rink when they were both teenagers. James and Joan married in 1960, raised three children, and were together for 53 years until Joan’s passing. James will be remembered for his quick wit, storytelling, positivity, and optimism. James enjoyed riding horses, ranching, deer hunting, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.
James is survived by his children Tracy Miller of Bennington, Lisa and husband Mark Reynolds of Bennington; grandchildren: Baylee Miller of Bennington, Caedee Miller of Bennington, and Hash Miller of Bennington. James was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan, son Jacob, and sister Sue Morrison.
A celebration of his life was held on July 13, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel located in Durant, Okla. Pastor Phillip Rowland will officiate. Interment will follow in the Bokchito Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Steve Robinson, Scott Robinson, Danny Miller, Joshua Smith, Clifford Garvin, and Nate Glenn.
