JOHNSTON COUNTY – One person is dead in a single-vehicle accident just outside Coleman on Wednesday afternoon.
Candace Speed, 32, of Coleman, was driving a 2014 Nissan westbound on Oklahoma Highway 48A approximately 1:24 p.m. about a tenth of a mile west of Coleman, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
For an unknown reason, the Nissan departed the road to the left for half a mile and struck a tree. Speed was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision.
Seatbelts were equipped, but not in use, according to the report, and the airbag did not deploy.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The OHP was assisted by the Tishomingo Fire Department and Johnston County Sheriff’s Department.
