Rachel Buchanan

Rachel Kathleen (Folsom) Buchanan, born April 20, 1991, departed from this world on June 3, 2021, at the young age of 30. She was the daughter of Nathan Paul Folsom and Sheila Kathleen Folsom and born in Durant, Okla.

Rachel married the love of her life, Justin Buchanan on March 16, 2018. Rachel and Justin appreciated and cherished each other for exactly who they were and together they created the perfect family and home.

Rachel was full of life, an absolute joy to be around. She was beautiful, elegant, cute and sassy all at the same time. Anyone who truly knew her, loved her wholeheartedly. When Rachel loved you, you knew without a doubt. When Rachel didn’t, you also knew without a doubt. She was very outspoken and honest, which may have gotten her into trouble a few times, but she had strong convictions that she never overlooked. A lot of people really appreciated that about her. Being close to Rachel was a gift and a true honor.

Although Rachel was an excellent Table Games dealer at Choctaw Casino, her inspiring goal was becoming a Dietician and she had just successfully completed her first year toward her degree. When Rachel set out to do something, she did it. Everything Rachel did, she gave one hundred percent. That includes being a wonderful wife and mother. Rachel found true happiness when her and Justin met at Lake Texoma. They became best friends and were inseparable. The love they shared made them the best versions of themselves. Rachel and Justin owned a beautiful home and loved renovating and spending time with their four children.

Although Rachel was a very busy woman, she always made time for her Momma and siblings. They were all close beyond measure. Her home was so welcoming and her door always open. She never knew when one of her siblings would drop by but she always greeted them with a smile and a hot meal. Her whole family will testify that she is the best cook ever, aside from her father who she claims taught her everything she knew. Not only was Rachel a good ol’ southern cook, but also she was an amazing gourmet chef in the kitchen.

True happiness cannot be measured by earthly years. Rachel’s life was a testament to that.

She is survived by her husband, Justin Lee Buchanan of the home; mother, Sheila Kathleen Folsom-Thompson and husband Joe Thompson of Bennington, Okla.; siblings: Tisha Yvette Smith of Atoka, Okla., Janna Rose Duncan of Tishomingo, Okla., Nathaniel Jeffrey Folsom of Dickson, Okla., Matthew Paul Folsom of Williston, N.D., Joseph Daniel Folsom of Bennington, Okla., and Anna Marie Folsom of Dallas, Texas; children: Emma May Gann, Abby Joe Gann, Spencer Everette Allen Buchanan, and Wyatt Paul Buchanan.

She was proceeded in death by her father, Nathan Paul Folsom (April 20, 2006); grandmothers, Betty Woods (2016) and Gertrude Campo (2002); grandfather, J.D. Folsom (1956), uncle, Macky Folsom (1995), and cousin Ashley Folsom (2004).
