Barbara Joann (Barbie J) Hand Jones, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Wife, Daughter, two-time cancer survivor, and friend, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021.
Barbie can be best described as someone who never met a stranger and became a friend to everyone she met. For better or worse Barbie was known by everyone in Marshall County, and if there was someone, she didnt know she would by the end of the day.
Born on August 5 1968, Barbie was delivered at the Naval Hospital, Naval Station Great Lakes, Ill. to her mother Dora and her father Rupert (Jack) Hand, an Enlisted Navy Service Member. Due her father’s military service Barbie grew up in a few different places across the United States. After Barbie’s father retired from the Navy, Barbie would come to call Oklahoma her home.
Barbie graduated from Canute High School, Canute Oklahoma, Class of 1987. In the late 90s Barbie moved to Kingston, Oklahoma where she lived until her passing. Barbie worked in the medical field for more than 20 years, as well as supported charities helping those with cancer such as the Relay for Life. Please continue supporting Barbie’s cancer cure charities in her memory. Barbie was married twice: to Barry Kelley and Jack Jones. Barbie is also called Nana Barbie by many of her dearest loved ones.
Barbie is survived by her husband, Jack Jones; her sons, Matthew Kelley and wife Shayla, Christopher Kelley, Chad Jones; her daughters Angel Cox, Bobbi Collins and husband Chris; her grandchildren: Emerson Kelley, Mattox Kelley, Brenna Jay, Makayla Bundy, Blake Gambel and Bryce Gambel; her great-grandchildren: Alexis Queen and Ammirah Bundy; her Mother, Dora; her Father Rupert (Jack); her brother, David; her sister, Lori; bonus sister, Shannon Young and husband Doug, and her step-dad Ted Duerr and his wife Cheryl.
Barbie is also survived by the weekly Family Night she helped found.
There are friends. There is family. Then there are friends who become family.
Barbie was preceded in death by her oldest sister Sandra, and her bonus dad Papa Bud.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 7:30 pm at the Buncombe Creek Resort, Kingston, Okla.
