Neva Nell Hodge

Neva Nell (Henson) Hodge was born Sunday, December 18, 1932 at Fobb, Okla. to Theodore and Amelia (Hayes) Henson and passed from this life on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in her home at Calera, Okla. at the age of 88.

Neva grew up and attended Fobb school. She married the love of her life, Lonnie Charles Hodge, on January 7, 1950 at Denison, Texas. Neva worked at Texas Instruments and as a cook at Calera Public Schools for a few years but worked as a homemaker most of her life.

Neva is a member of the First Baptist Church in Colbert. She also enjoyed being a volunteer at the Chickasaw Senior Center in Colbert. She is a proud member of the Chickasaw nation.

She was an avid gardener, loved tending to her flowers, working in the yard, and crocheting. She also made delicious fried pies, peanut patties and jellies.

Neva and her husband, Lonnie, owned and operated their own fruit stand, Hodge Fruit Stand, in Cartwright for 10 years. They sold different types of fruits, vegetables and hanging flower baskets.

Mrs. Hodge was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie; son, Gary Hodge on December 17, 2020; and daughter, Sherry Hodge.

She leaves behind her loving family – son, Randy Hodge and partner, Pam Love, and his sons, Britt Hodge and his daughter, Claire, Brian Hodge and wife, Chancery, and Jordan Hodge and his wife, Bethany; grandson, Stacy Hodge and his wife, Chandra, and their children, Dakota Aspen and Nicholas Hodge; granddaughter, Brandy Schocke and her husband, Rob, and their children, Trey Ramos, Brooke Schocke and Taylor Schocke; grandson, Chad Hodge, and his daughters, Brocke and Kinsley; granddaughter, Candace Burnett and her husband, Brad, and grandson, Kyle Hodge.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hodge will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 21, at the First Baptist Church in Colbert with Pastors Roy Vinson and Steven Alexander officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Lonnie, in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Colbert with Stacy Hodge, Trey Ramos, Gary Weger, Dakota Hodge, Britt Hodge, Clint Shrum, and Jordan Hodge serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 20, from 5-7 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant.
