James “Riley” Minchey was born Aug. 6, 2002 in Durant, Okla. He tragically passed from this life on Jan. 15, 2021 at the young age of 18.
Riley enjoyed skateboarding, playing guitar, and being a Juggalo.
Riley is preceded in death by his Memaw, Marjorie Minchey; Papa, James Loyd Minchey; Grandpa, Larry Hammond and Great-Grandmothers, Phyllis Knight and Bonnie Tidwell.
Left to cherish his memory is his girlfriend and love of his life, Rayvan Polk of the home, parents, Shannon (Minchey) and Richard Whitfield of Calera, Okla.; father, Michael Hammond of Bennington, Okla.; brothers, Preston and Brayden Whitfield of Calera, Okla.; Grandma, Toni Lopez of Bokchito, Okla.; Papa, Richard E Whitfield of Durant, Okla. and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that were his family.
Pallbearers will be his uncles, Shawn Minchey, Jacob Hammond, and Brian Hammond, as well as his “brothers” Damian Pelts, AJ Hammons, and Russell Turner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his cousins, Jeffery Jackson, Mychael Morgan, Anthony Perez, and Issac Perez, as well as friends Bailey Smith, Shawn Littrell, Tanner Belcher, Tristan Seidl, Corbin Seidl, Dillon Smith, Julian Compean, Tyler Pelkey, Tyler Wilman, Joseph Almaguer, Fabian Strong, Billy Keith Craddock, David Garza, Addy Ray, and Hailee Navarrette.
The family asks that his friends wear their Juggalo merch, but keep in mind the service will be in a church.
Family night will be Wednesday at Coffey Murray Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Believers Church on 49th Street with Pastor Michael Bradley officiating.
