Ouita Elizabeth Wright passed away to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 in Ada, Okla., at the age of 89. She was born to Lawrence and Bertie (Owens) Boyd on May 27, 1931 in Midway, Okla. Ouita was raised by Bertie and Wiley Paddock. She married Jude Wright June 4, 1946 in Durant, Okla.
Ouita was a long-time member of Armstrong First Baptist Church in Armstrong, Okla., along with being a recent member of Milburn First Baptist. She was also a member of the WMU. She worked for Bryan County Memorial Hospital for 25 years. Afterward, she then became assistant administrator of Oak Ridge Manor Nursing Home in Durant, Okla.
Ouita enjoyed sewing, reading, playing piano, singing, and watching movies. Ouita was a very talented creator, artist, and musician. She taught Sunday school and served in Bible school for many years. She also enjoyed cooking for her friends and family. Her favorite thing was telling stories and sharing history with her family. She was an over-achiever and mastered anything she put her mind to.
Ouita is survived by her daughter, Glenda Rowland and husband, James of Milburn, Okla. and Sandy Smith of Armstong, Okla.; grandchildren: Dr. Brad Rowland and wife Shawna of Stillwater, Okla., Jeff Rowland and wife Misty of Milburn, Okla., LaDawnya Wallace and husband Steve of Greenville, Texas, Dr. Cynthia Burleson and husband Gary of Armstong, Okla.; great-grandchildren: Saxon Rowland, Dan Rowland, Blake Rowland, Tyler Rowland, Remington Rowland, Roman Rowland, Elizabeth Rowland, Adam Rowland, Katie Rowland, Reagan Rowland, Tabitha Burleson, Brandon Burleson, William Andrew Wallace, and Andrew Burleson; brother, Nathan Boyd of Huntsville, Texas, and sister Tina Boyd.
Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her husband, Jude Wright; parents, Bertie Paddock, Wiley Paddock, and Lawrence Boyd; infant son, Wiley Andrew Wright; granddaughter, Dana Smith and son-in-law Wayne Smith, along with four brothers.
Funeral services for Ouita Wright will be 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 28, 2020 at Armstrong First Baptist Church in Armstrong, Okla. Officiating the services will be Rev. Mark McGhee and Rev. Earl White. Following with be interment at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Armstrong with great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.
