Tennie Jewel Ward 90, of Colbert, Okla. passed away Thursday December 17, 2020 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. She was born August 20, 1930 in Colbert, Okla. to Robert Edgel and Goldie Alma (Eastwood) Weger.
Her family and friends called her Jewel. She met a handsome man named R.D. Ward at a box supper held in the schoolhouse. They fell in love over fried chicken and apple pie and they married on Feb. 15, 1947. They remained married for 68 years and raised five daughters and two sons.
R.D. went before her to his heavenly home on March 18, 2015. Also preceding her in death were her parents; brothers: James, Adrian and Stanley; sister, Nora Mae Woods; daughters: Connie Gail Moody and Bonnie Sue Luckie.
She is survived by her children: Beverly Gregory and husband Dewey, Mike Ward and wife Sarah, Sabra Adams, Terri Chandler and husband Dan, Robert and a dear friend Steve Smith; four sisters: Jimmie Lee Haynes and husband Eldon, Edith Woods, Dean Brown, and Libby Hunter and husband Mike and brother Billy Weger; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and beloved cousins.
A graveside service for Jewel Ward was held on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020 at the Garden of Memory Cemetery in Colbert with her son-in-law Dewey Gregory officiating with burial to follow.
