David Lee Duncan, a resident of Nida, Okla., passed from this earthly life at his home on May 30, 2020 at the age of 72.
David was the son of Nelvagene (Beeson) and Huell Duncan and was born in Durant, Okla., on July 14, 1947. David proudly served his country for six years in the Oklahoma National Guard. A two-time graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State, he was a lifelong educator having spent his 50-year career at Ravia Public Schools.
David was an avid outdoorsman who could often be found in the deer woods or dropping his fishing line in the water for a quiet morning or afternoon. He also enjoyed a good game of dominoes, a little bit of gambling at Choctaw, working cattle and spending as much time he could with his four grandkids.
Mr. Duncan is survived by his cherished son, Kevin Duncan and wife Shelley of Ada, Okla., and their children, Zoe and AJ; treasured daughter, Kami Duncan Gantt and husband Glenn of Dallas, Texas, and their children, Duncan and Brooks; brothers, Clayton Arnold of Burnet, Texas, and Rick Duncan of Durant, Okla.; sister, Nancy McSwain and husband Terry of Ravia, Okla., and sister-in-law Paula Duncan of Lewisville, Texas. He is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Duncan was preceded in death by his parents, Nelvagene and Huell Duncan, and brother, Jasper Duncan.
Family hour will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A graveside service to honor David’s life will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Okla., with Connor Bales as the officiant.
