David was a lifelong resident of Bryan County and graduated from Calera High School. David proudly served his country in the United States Army National Guard 45th Division. He had many talents and was a jack of all trades.
As David got older, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hanging out at the body shop with his childhood friends, and going to the casino. He was also a collector of knives and a member of the Elks Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Lou Hughes.
David is survived by his four sons: Jon Hughes of Norman, Okla., Scott Hughes and wife Shannon of Ohio, Jason Simpson and wife Amy of Whitewright, Texas, and Jeff Hughes and wife Ramona of Calera, Okla.; one sister, Mary Lou Dillingham and husband Gary of Durant, Okla. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Cody Wayne Hughes, Laura Leigh Simpson, Audrey Ruth Hughes, and Lila Kate Hughes, and two great-grandchildren: Augustus Wayne Hughes and Henry David Hughes.
Memorial services will be held at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2020 with Jimmy Parrish officiating.
