Ruby Irene Knight entered eternal rest on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020 in Calera, Okla., at the age of 97. She was born on January 31, 1923 in Gracemont, Okla.
Ruby married Henry C. (Tip) Knight on Jan. 3, 1940 in Anadarko, Okla.. She worked for Durant Milling Company and Durant High School Cafeteria before retirement. She loved gardening and outside. Ruby loved when her grandchildren visited, especially the babies. She was a longtime member of New Life Assembly of God in Calera. She loved going to church and reading her bible. She always had a smile and was ready to help anyone.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents and husband; her sons: James Knight and Bobby Knight; grandson, Ronnie Stephens; great-great-grandson Samuel Hoskins; daughter-in-law, Sue Knight; brothers: G.L. Kelsay, Carl Kelsay, Ray Kelsay, Junior Kelsay, Morris Kelsay; sisters: Juanita Mays and Wanda Midkiff; brothers-in-law: Elton Mays and Jack Chesser; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Kelsay, Theresa Kelsay and Edna Kelsay.
Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann and husband Carl of Durant, Okla.; son, Albert Knight of Durant, Okla.; sister, Nora Agnes Chesser of Commerce, Texas; brother, Harold Kelsay of Gun Barrel City, Texas; daughter-in-law, Linda Knight of Alverado, Texas; grandchildren: Glenn and Mandy Stephens of Mead, Okla., Amy Knight of Durant, Okla., Nancy and Ray Cook of Donaldson, Ark., Susie Main of Malvern, Ark., Clifton and Lisa Knight of Anna, Texas, Patricia and James Garner of Moyers, Okla., Bobby Knight of Texas, Tim Knight of Texas, Ernest Knight of Washington and Michele Moody of Alvaredo, Texas; 25 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Calera Manor and Guardian Hospice for the wonderful care that Ruby received.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2020 at New Life Assembly in Calera with Steven Biggerstaff and David Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Bokchito Cemetery with Glenn Stephens, Cory Stephens, Caleb Stephens, Ray Cook, James Ray Kelsay and James Kenneth Kelsay serving as pallbearers. The family will accept friends Sunday afternoon from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
