WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator James Lankford (R-OK) today attended the 68th-annual bipartisan National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, DC. The National Prayer Breakfast is an opportunity each year for people from around the country and the world to come together to pray for peace, pray for our nation, pray for their nations, and pray for those who lead around the world. 
In 2019, Lankford and Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) served as honorary co-chairs of the National Prayer Breakfast. This year’s honorary co-chairs were Representatives John Moolenaar (R-MI) and Thomas Suozzi (D-NY).
“This morning I was reminded again of the power of prayer to unite people,” Lankford said. “Prayer is one way to bring positive changes to our world and to the issues that divide us. Arthur Brooks’ encouragement to love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you was a timely reminder of the truth and radical message of Jesus.
“We have a common goal at this breakfast to encircle our national and international leaders with God’s word and with our gratitude for His many blessings. We continue to show the world that the freedom of religion—the freedom to worship without fear of persecution, to have any faith or to have no faith at all—is not only a vital component of what it means to be Americans but is a fundamental human right of all people. I look forward to the continuation of this important yearly tradition in our nation’s capital.”
