Bob Franklin, of Durant, Okla., passed from this life on Friday, Oct.18, 2019 in Durant at the age of 83. He was born on Monday, March 9, 1936 in Caney, Okla. to Alfus Ray and Ada Alga (Moran) Franklin.
He married Maxine (Ammons) Franklin on February 17, 1956 in Durant.
Bob was a lifelong Atoka and Bryan county resident. He attended Caddo High School. He owned and operated a wholesale nursery and furniture store for 15 years. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and dominoes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfus Ray and Ada Alga Franklin; son, Dennis Franklin; brothers: A.J. Franklin, James Franklin; sisters: Louise Franklin Hauser, Patsy Avant; and grandson, Caleb Franklin.
Survivors include wife Maxine Franklin of Durant, Okla.; sons: Mike Franklin and wife Donna of Lane, Okla., Allen Franklin and wife Ladonna of Durant, Okla.; grandsons: Robert Franklin and wife Danielle of Ada, Okla., Derik Franklin and wife Melissa of Lane, Okla., Aaron Franklin and wife Shana of Durant, Okla., Daron Franklin of Austin, Texas, Michael Franklin of Dallas, Texas, Colt Franklin of Durant, Okla., Coby Franklin and wife Alex of Durham, N.C., Cort Franklin and wife Sarah of Durant, Okla., Chase Franklin and wife Rainy of Lane, Okla.; granddaughters: LaShona Lay and husband Phillip of Cleveland, Okla., Caitlyn Franklin of Shawnee, Okla.; brother, Alvin Franklin and wife Syble of Durant, Okla.; 12 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
A family hour will be held from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019 at Gordon Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019 at the Monterey Chapel, 224 S. Ninth Ave. in Durant with Bro. Anthony Williams officiating.
A graveside service will follow at the Caney Cemetery with Derik Franklin, Aaron Franklin, Colt Franklin, Coby Franklin, Cort Franklin, Chase Franklin, Daron Franklin and Michael Franklin serving as honorary pallbearers.
