Laverne Carr

Laverne Willie Carr, 94 of Durant, Okla., passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2019. She was born on Sept. 22, 1924 in Caney, Okla., to Willie Taylor and Reba Miller.

Laverne graduated from Caney High School and worked at home taking care of her family. She married the love of her life, Marion Carr. The couple shared 65 years together before his passing in 2010. Laverne was a member of the Caney Pentecostal Church, which she devoted her life to. She enjoyed quilting, walking, reading, puzzles, cooking, and spending time with her family.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Marion Carr; daughter, Sonja Elise Carr; sisters: Ruth, Velma, and Frances; brothers: Wayne and Jerry; and grandchild Sherri L. Carr.

Survivors include her children: Clint E. Carr and wife Hattie, Floyd D. Carr and wife Barbara, Donnie L. Carr and wife Nancy, Debra A. Carr, Dennis M. Carr and wife Anabel, Pamela D. Kendrick and husband Richard; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren along with other extended family members and dear friends.

Services to honor Laverne’s life will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 at the Caney Pentecostal Church with Bro. Harold Brewer and Bro. Brian Carr officiating.

Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Richard Kendrick, Donnie Carr Jr, Brandon Carr, Regina Beaty, Kerrie Vanhorn, Cherokee Brand, Della Carr, Destiny Carr, Gracie Carr, and Holli Taylor serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Cody Beaty, Alana Kendrick, Nathan Kendrick, and Aven Beaty. The family will accept friends Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
