2020 Miss DHS crowned

DURANT – Lauren Sherrer, sophomore, was crowned the 2020 Miss DHS on Saturday, March 7 in the auditorium at Durant High School. Lauren performed ballet en pointe to Bohemian Rhapsody for her talent.

Fourteen young women competed in the pageant and included Cinthia Phillips, Mackenzie Monroe, Isie Cox, Mary-Catherine Hallmark, Kenslie Clark, Landry Lewis, Lauren Sherrer, Lauren Horner, Hollyn Cox, Azaria Babino, Kimberly Usrey, Natalie Gaskill, Sydney Williams and Brianna Stockert.

The 2020 pageant marks the ninth year the event has been held, and is the annual fundraiser for the DECA program. DECA is a student marketing organization and prepared emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality and management in high schools and colleges around the globe. Funds raised provide marketing curriculum and assist students in preparation of competitive events on the state and national level.

This year, the Miss DHS pageant awarded more than $4,000 in scholarship and prizes to the young women, and were donated by community donors and sponsors.

Runners up to Miss DHS were Kenslie Clark, first runner-up; Isie Cox, second runner-up; Natalie Gaskill, third runner-up; and Lauren Horner, fourth runner-up.

Other awards of the evening were Miss Congeniality, Isie Cox; Crowd Pleaser and Most Ticket Sales, Kinslie Clark. Cooper McCoy was named Escort of the Evening.

Additional escorts to the contestants included Alex Elliott, Quillan Taylor, Colton Lewis, Camdon Cooper, Hunter Wall, Zane White, Cody Chapman, Jake Christian, Zac White, Luke Gaines, Pablo Gonzalez, Jacoby Simmons and Colby Johnson.
