DURANT – Good weather, good food and good fun made for a good turnout at the 2018 Choctaw Senior Day. More than 1,000 tribal elders showed up Wednesday, May 16 at the Events Center in Durant. The seniors, who all participate at their local Choctaw Community Centers, came from across the 10-and-a-half counties of southeastern Oklahoma.

News presented by First United Bank.

Senior Day is a regular event for the Choctaw Nation during national Older Americans Month. “Engage at Every Age” was the theme at the 33rd Annual Senior Day hosted by Choctaw Nation Health Services Authority.

More than 30 programs of the Choctaw Nation filled gift bags and provided information on health and wellness, transportation, agriculture, and other services, as tribal employees assisted with the event. Award-winning individuals and teams of the previous year were recognized and a gospel singing competition was held. Entertainment was provided by Native Praise Choir of Tulsa.
