DURANT – The 103rd Candlelighting Concert will be held on Monday, December 11 at 7:30 p.m. in historic Montgomery Auditorium on the campus of Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
This year’s theme is “Home for the Holidays” and will feature a wide variety of musical styles, from sacred classics such as How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place by Johannes Brahms, beloved carols such as I’ll be Home for Christmas, and brand-new premieres such as Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, written by a Southeastern student composer.
“We’ve got everything from ancient chants to classical masterpieces to vocal jazz,” said Dr. Abby Musgrove, Director of Choral Activities at Southeastern. “There’s something for everyone, and we want every person to feel the warmth and delight of the Christmas season.”
The Southeastern Choirs will be joined this year by various faculty and student instrumentalists as well as the Durant Intermediate School Chorus, which will perform a few holiday selections of their own.
The concert will last approximately one hour and is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Dr. Abby Musgrove at amusgrove@se.edu.
