DURANT – Workout Anytime is celebrating the start of its business in Durant in 2019 with a Grand Opening on Saturday. And as the summer months are approaching, the fitness club is looking to help make a difference in the community, as well.

Workout Anytime is joining forces with Hands of Hope, a local food bank in Durant, to provide another avenue of supplying food for youth and children.

“In the summer, with kids out of school they’re not getting their free and reduced lunches, etc,” said Rana Pawan, owner of the Durant location of Workout Anytime. “So the need for food is even greater. What we did was to start a promotion so that when you bring in a canned food item, the enrollment that we charge goes from $49 down to $1, and all of the food collected goes to Hands of Hope.”

Those who come may bring more than just one canned food item and Pawan said current members are also encouraged to bring food, too. The promotion will continue through the end of May.

And this Saturday, there will be a ribbon cutting as the Durant Chamber of Commerce welcomes the franchise as a member at the Grand Opening. Pawan said there will be a lot of activity beyond just the ceremony.

“We have KLBC coming to do a live remote as well as D.J. Christy Rothrock,” Pawan said. A lot of our neighbors will have booths set up. GNC will be here with a table. The Hub Nutrition will be here along with Smiles Dentistry, Bryan County Health – a lot of health and wellness industries and  businesses will be here representing themselves. We’ll also have Elevation here with a couple of ladies giving chair massages. There will be lots of things to do and get information about.

“We’re going to have tons of food – hamburgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, spaghetti from Roma’s – all kinds of food, as well as prizes and a raffle.

The Grand Opening festivities will be going on from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 11.
