Woman flown to Plano following one-vehicle accident east of Durant

BRYAN COUNTY – One person was injured in an accident approximately two miles east of Durant on Friday evening.

Dianne Houston, 62, of Durant, was driving westbound on Old Highway 70 at about 6:28 p.m. when she swerved to the right to avoid an animal in the road, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Her vehicle continued to the right and struck a fencepost, a tree and rolled 3/4 of a time.

Houston was transported by Air-Evac to Plano Medical Center in Plano, Texas, with head, leg, arm and trunk internal and trunk external injuries and was listed in critical condition.

She was pinned in the vehicle for approximately 20 minutes and was freed by the Durant Fire Department.

Her seatbelt was equipped and in use and there were no passengers in the vehicle, according to the report.

The Bryan County Sheriff’s Department, Bryan County EMS and Durant Fire Department assisted the OHP in the investigation.
