Two injured in wreck near Mead

BRYAN COUNTY – One person was flown by Air Evac to Plano following a one-vehicle accident on Friday.

Presley Walker, 60, of Mead was traveling westbound in a 2007 GMC pickup at about 4 p.m. on Church Road about two miles north of Mead at a high rate of speed and lost control of the vehicle on a gravel roadway, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The vehicle overcorrected back onto roadway, overturned approximately two times, coming to rest on its top on the northbound side of the roadway.

Walker was transported to Plano, Texas in stable condition with head, trunk external, and neck injuries.

One passenger was in the vehicle. Amber Smith, 24, of Mead, was taken by EMS to Alliance Health Durant in stable condition with trunk external and neck injuries.

High speed was listed as the cause of the accident and there was an odor of alcohol, according to the report.

Neither occupant of the vehicle was wearing a seatbelt.
